Why We Fight

So everyone occasionally hears about historical reenactments being held around the country, the era being portrayed depends on the location. Here in the New England we have everything from the Revolutionary War to World War Two. In the South you typically see Civil War Reenactments. But you have to ask yourselves why do we fight? Simple we fight for you and for our veterans. A lot of reenactments are put on for the general public so they can learn about what it was like to be a solider of the Soviet Union or the Confederacy and of course the American soldier. Men and women alike spend a lot of money and countless hours on their impressions, so our history will not be lost. We show people that history can be electrifying and alive even if happened over a hundred years ago. I myself am a World War Two reenactor and my favorite part of the hobby is talking to public and educating them on the era and the war itself. Some people can't sit down and read a textbook and grasp what it was like, that’s why living historians all across the world help the general public understand what went on and how it happened.

  2. I'm both happy and excited that you came away with a renewed interest and some insight. Although historical reenacting is a world-wide phenomenon many people don't fully understand why we do it. People believe that it's just grown-ups playing army or war, but it's so much more. I'm glad that you liked my blog!
